Viennese Brownies: Kate’s Quick Bites

Learn about a type of artistic endeavor using traditional techniques with Kim Nagorski.

Kim Nagorski, Executive Director of the Ohio Craft Museum joined Kate in the kitchen to talk about fine crafts in Ohio and to make Viennese Brownies.

Ingredients
For the brownies:
2 1-oz squares unsweetened chocolate
1/2 cup unsalted butter (1 stick)
2 eggs
1 cup granulated sugar
3/4 cup flour
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt

For the cheesecake filling:
1 8-oz. package cream cheese, softened 
1/3 cup granulated sugar
1 egg

Directions
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Grease an 8x8x2” pan. 

Sift together the flour, baking powder, and salt; set aside. 

Combine cream cheese, sugar, and 1 egg; set aside. 

Melt chocolate and butter. Beat 2 eggs until fluffy; add 1 cup sugar and chocolate mixture.
Add sifted dry ingredients; stir to blend. 

Pour half chocolate mixture into greased pan. Spread with cream cheese mixture.
Top with remaining brownie batter. 

Bake 40-50 minutes.
